Dear EA's, i would like to know what all documentation is required for getting visit visa for my spouse processed after me landing to Qatar. does she need to undergo medical test @ India as well? I have provided all documents-including marriage certificate attested to my employer out at Qatar. They told me that i would not be able to bring my spouse along with me- instead you may apply for her visit visa once your RP gets processed. Could you please advise me how long it will take for me to apply for visit visa for my spouse & also do let me know whether she can avail medical insurance given by my employer (myself, spouse & kid are included in the coverage) looking forward for your prompt advise and help! Smiles!! Abhi

Hi Abhi

Ideally, a tourist visa for Qatar should be processed within three weeks or less.

Supposing we're just talking about the requirements for a tourist visa, your wife should not have to have any special vaccinations in India. Note that if your child is five years old or younger, he or she will have to take two drops of oral polio vaccine.

Your wife will, however, need to show she has enough money to cover her stay (1,400 USD or a major credit card), and a return ticket. She will also need a hotel reservation.

Once she is in Qatar, she can either apply for a family residence visa if you earn more than 7,000 QAR a month. On this permit, she will also be eligible to apply for a permit to be a working woman without having to get her own working permit. This can be applied for at the labour department (hotel reservations can be cancelled, tickets can be at least partially refunded).

I can't be certain but it stands to reason that she should be able to take advantage of the insurance but that it would be much better if her and your child were on the family permit. It would be best to speak to the insurance provider about this.

I'd recommend having a read through our Visas for Qatar page, as well as Work Permits for Qatar

In the meantime and hang in there. It should all work out and remember, things take time in Qatar.

Best of luck,

Xavier
