Hi there

I'm going to be moving to Hong Kong to take up a mid-level position in finance. I was just wondering whether anyone has some insight into which areas I should be looking at moving to. I don't want a tiny flat, and don't mind moving out of the city, but also don't want to travel for more than an hour to get to work, at the most.

Thanks in advance

Hi Gerald Smith Welcome to Hong Kong.. Probably you said you are not willing to live in a tiny house but don't care live out of the city, maybe Leyburn Villas, DB and Park Island are good alternative choices for you to live, which located in Lantau Isalnd, kind of housing in a complex, good envionment and atmosphere because a lot of expat are also living around there, ask me if you want to get more information.

Hi Gerald

These things obviously depend on personal taste and individual circumstances. Here are some examples from our Areas and Suburbs in Hong Kong page, which I recommend you look at for more detail.

Wan Chai is close to the centre of Hong Kong, so chances are you'll be close to work. There are also a lot of restaurants and nightclubs around, and the area is also quite popular with expats. Mid-Levels is popular for similar reasons, and is maybe a bit more pricey.

If you'll be able to afford it, Happy Valley is popular with more wealthy expat families. The area has tree lined streets, a bit more space than some of the other areas, and offers a good range of accommodation.

Kowloon Tong, to the north of Hong Kong island is another good bet, is close to good schools and is a 20 minute subway ride away from the city centre.

I'd also recommend having a look at our accommodation in Hong Kong page to get a general idea of buying property in the region.

Good luck!

Xavier

Causeway Bay, where you can feel the energetic side of Hong Kong, would be a nice place to live in. I have tried a serviced apartments brand in Causeway Bay before. They offer reasonably charged apartments with flexible lease terms. You may check it out, FYR: Dash Serviced Suites All the best!
