I think you might find it difficult to save on 400 OR a month.You didn't say what profession you worked in - obviously your skills and experience will effect the type you salary you can expect to be paid.
Accomodation will in Oman will set you back at least USD 350 per month, so luckily at least that is something you won't fork out for.
Car hire in Oman is fairly reasonable at around OMR 165 per month, and this will take up almost half of your salary. While petrol is really cheap in Oman, you would save quite a bit if you used public transport.
Eating out and leisure activities can also be costly in Oman. If you are want to drink alcohol, nights out become even more expensive.
