Where should we look for housing in Delhi, and is there anything extra that we should make sure our company covers in cost?

Looking for housing in Delhi is about as fun as sharecropping in Mississippi Delta during flood season (whatever that means)! Okay, in all seriousness, housing is a big problem in this Indian city. If you're company is footing the bill, then chances are they also have a few accommodation options lined up for you. While you may be tentative to consider only the options they afford you, it really is the best way. There's few suitable, high-standard accommodation options in Delhi for a decent price - so if they've done the legwork, then best to leave it that way.

Anand Niketan and Shanit Niketan are fabulous areas, and Malcha Marg is also fantastic.

Most expats in India hire domestic help, so at risk of being cheeky, maybe you can include this in your housing allowance?

It actually really depends where you are going to work or where your children (if you have any) are going to school. There are several nice places in South Delhi to live, but it also depends on your budget, because certain areas are very expensive. I actually run a real estate agency which is mainly focussed on expat housing, www.bricks-india.com. If you need any help just let me know. Alexander

i stay in delhi, acc to me you should look for a house near to your workplace, cos travelling distances are the greatest problem with delhi, inspite of good connectivity traveling eats lots of you time and energy.. you may face long traffic jams during starting and ending office hours. in each of the zones of delhi you can find localities of all status.

Hi, I've lived in Delhi for over a year, and finding accommodation that was appropriate (in terms of location, safety, furnishings and services) and not over-priced was one of the largest issues I faced in Delhi. I would meet locals that were living in similar rentals and paying a fraction of what I was paying. So, I've teamed up with a friend (from the real estate world) and we've started an agency i-tak Solutions- that is dedicated to helping expats finding an appropriate rental at "LOCAL RATES". We have many properties that you can choose from. If, one of our featured properties do not fulfill all your requirements, we will find and negotiate the terms for your ideal flat/flatshare/house. Hope we will be able to help every person that need to find a place to stay in Delhi. Jagoda
