How can I lead a reasonable life in Bakra,Oman ?

I have been offered OMR 1040 pm for Assistant Professor in Business Admin to work in Bakra,Oman. It includes all except air tickets and medical expenses. I would like to know the living condition and cost of living in Bakra,Oman. Is there shared accomodation and PG facility available? Is it wise to opt for shared accomodation. Also, I would like to know availability of Transport and Dining facilities for expats. I would like to get your advice on relocation and finding a reasonable accomodation (inlcuding lease terms) and transport facilities

It's difficult to say whether you will find the cost of living in Oman to be better or worse than your current cost of living without knowing where you live currently. However, in general, Oman's cost of living is middling - that is, not very high but not particularly low either. You can read more on the Expat Arrivals Cost of Living in Oman page. The public transport infrastructure in Oman is not very good so I would recommend either buying a car or asking your company to provide a car (either with or without a driver). The Expat Arrivals Transport and Driving in Oman page has more info.

Shared accommodation is available in Oman and may be a good choice if you are looking to cut down on expenses as it is a great deal cheaper than non-shared accommodation. The basic process for finding and securing accommodation is outlined on the Accommodation in Oman page.

Dear Rajan, Average cost for an independent Flats in Barka Oman is as follows: 2 BHK - OMR. 250/- Studio Flat - OMR. 150/- (But rarely available). You can get a independent Room (sharing accommodation) @ OMR. 60/- to OMR. 75/-. Average Electricity and water bill upto OMR. 30/-. Barka is a small town and in developing stage. If your Office is located within Barka itself, the cab driver will ask for OMR. 1 to 1.5 but you can bargain for the trip. Every places in Barka is within the reach of 5 kms. Hope this information will be useful.

Thank you friend for your guidance. Is there public transport in barka? What are general terms of room sharing or time prospect of getting a studio flat? If renting a flat terms of lease. Is there any Indian mess or hotel available and also fitness studio. I'm relocating from India.
