I'm an engineer considering a job offer in the construction industry in Saudi Arabia, but worried about the weather conditions, especially as I will spend many hours outdoors. Any expats living in Riyadh who can give me some advice about their experience with the heat and dust in Saudi Arabia?

Hey David, the temperatures in Riyahd are extreme to say the least! Expats take a while to adjust and I'm not sure you can ever really say that you are used to it. Buildings are generally airconditioned and cater for the temperatures. You have to be prepared - sunblock and a hat when outdoors are essential and you should wear loose fitting (preferably cotton) clothing.  Check out our Weather in Saudi Arabia page to read more. Good luck with your move to Saudi!

Hi Alot will depend on you ability to live in heat. The summer in Riyadh is very hot 50+ C but it is very dry, not much humidity so it does n ot drain you so much. Working outside is hard, you have to slow down a bit and drink water all the time. Winter can be cold - Riyadh can see temperatures of 0 and the winds can be really cold. Not sure this helps ? But plenty of people work in the construction industry in Saudi. David
