Hi. Graet work you are doing there... Cheers. I just arrived in AbuDhabi with a work visa. I missed this school academic year. My wife and 2 kids are still back home as the school (IGSCE curricula) there started in Aug. I want to be ready for the new term in Jan. & hence should apply for their residency and stuff ASAP. What are the requirements for the wife and the kids (15 and 12 yrs age) to get their passports residency stamped and get all the other related docs/certifs. Does most of school require admission assessment tests? Which are the best British Curricula schools and without many 'difficult' admission requirements.

Where is the best area to settle the family? Looking for a villa in a compound with annual rent in the range AED 170K - AED 200K where there is a shopping center near by,a gym, a play area for the kids. I don't mind if it is 20-30min far from my work which is almost near Emirates Palace.

Sorry for all these questions, but had no elsewhere to go. Thanks in advance for all the effort.

Hey abualawlad,

You'll find that a lot of your questions are answered in our Abu Dhabi guide.

As long as you hold a residency/work permit for Abu Dhabi then you can sponsor your wife and children to move over. However, the process can be frustratingly long so get the ball rolling asap. Furthermore you need to be earning at least AED 4,000 per month and have a housing lease in your name. Your employer may also be willing to help you navigate this process but for more information check out the Visas for Abu Dhabi page.

In terms of deciding where to live, the right neighbourhood for you and your family will depend on where you want your kids to go to school and your personal preferences. Check out the Areas and suburbs in Abu Dhabi page for an insight into popular expat neighbourhoods in the emirate.

Let me know if you have more questions.
