Hi, I have a bit complicated situation here.

I am a Czech female living in UK. My British partner got a job in Dubai, moving there in March.

It is not very clear to me what to do regarding my relocation (plus my dog). We are planning to get married in Dubai but as I understand to get sponsor visa you have to be married.

I suppose I could arrive on tourist visa and sort things later? But wouldn't we have problems with the authorities when applying for marriage certificate?

Could somebody give me an advice, please, how would be the best to proceed.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi Vladka,

As you say, your is a slightly tricky situation.

You do need to be married to be eligable for the family residence permit. It will also depend on your partner's salary. Your partner will need to be earning at AED 3,000 (with an accommodation) allowance to sponsor family.

You can take a look at the Expat Arrivals Visas for Dubai page for some general information. But I would also suggest you consult an immigration consultant working with expats in Dubai. It is likely that they would have had experience dealing with others in your situation.

The earlier you find our where you stand the better. You don't want to travel to Dubai and then be forced to leave until the paperwork is sorted out.

Good luck

Hi Anonymous, you'll need to arrange a job first before you can get a visa as your company will need to sponsor the visa. Have a look at the link in Shantalie's post to visas for Dubai. For more on working there and finding an job, have a read of our Working in Dubai page,
