What the school says
"NLCS (Singapore) provides an exceptional educational experience to students, based on the traditions, ethos and practices of North London Collegiate School, UK. The NLCS Education philosophy is based on three pillars.
- An ambitious academic education, instilling a culture of scholarship and a lifelong love of learning;
- outstanding pastoral care where pupils can achieve their best and flourish;
- exceptional enrichment programmes outside of the classroom where pupils can explore academic and non-academic interests.
"We believe in the transformative power of academic engagement, producing scholars and critical thinkers. We believe that each student is unique, and that it is our responsibility to provide them with 'floors, not ceilings' so that we can nurture their individual talents, confidence and self-worth, and enable them to 'run their own race'. NLCS (Singapore) aims to develop an outward-looking, internationally-minded community that promotes respect and compassion, service to others, and active, positive participation in society and the wider world."
The NLCS programme is synonymous with excellence, ambition and aspiration. The curriculum at NLCS (Singapore) provides students with a rigorous academic education, taught by highly qualified, knowledgeable and inspiring teachers through lively, active lessons. Students are challenged to think for themselves and to develop their minds independently, ensuring high academic achievements and the ability to attain the success needed to enter the foremost universities worldwide and progress successfully into their career of choice.

From the Founding Principal Mr Paul Friend
"The NLCS (Singapore) story began over 160 years ago, when educational pioneer Frances Mary Buss first opened NLCS in London. Ever since that day, the NLCS programme has been synonymous with excellence, ambition and aspiration. NLCS (Singapore) draws on that rich history and tradition to provide our students with an inspirational and life-changing educational experience that will ensure they become successful, well-rounded, and compassionate human beings.
"NLCS produces scholars and critical thinkers. Individuals who have the ability and drive to bring positive change to the world around them, thanks to the 'NLCS DNA' that is instilled within each one of them. This NLCS spirit is nurtured through exposing our students to opportunities which challenge them intellectually, physically and emotionally, on a day-to-day basis. The NLCS (Singapore) experience holds the traditions and values of our founders dear, and applies them in our exciting, international, dynamic, global environment.
"Outstanding pastoral care that focuses on the needs of each individual, and commits that no child will ever feel unsupported in our school, lies at the heart of everything that we do.
"Making decisions about your child’s schooling can be extremely challenging for parents, and we encourage you to meet with us, so that you can see for yourself what makes the NLCS ethos so unique and exciting. We’re quite sure that you too will become inspired at what we have to offer."
What the parents say
“The NLCS ethos is unique and inspiring. While the school is very rigorous in academics, the focus is on creating a learning culture and fostering a growth mindset in the classroom. Good results are a natural outcome of this, and as parents, we witness this daily in our children.
"The school has very detailed curriculum guides, and the teachers communicate with parents regularly and with transparency. So now, we know exactly how our children are progressing. The McCabe lectures, house competitions, academic societies, various clubs and an impressive range of CCAs provide different and exciting learning experiences. The pastoral care is outstanding, and the tutors engage fully with their students.
"Our boys are thriving here. NLCS (Singapore) is everything that we have wanted in a school."
– Seema and Sahir Malkani (parents of children in Junior and Senior School)
“Our daughter often comes home raving about the classes and projects she did in school. There never seems to be a dull moment. She’s a complete bookworm and loves to immerse herself in the school libraries. There were times when she would return home with books checked out from the senior library! We appreciate how she is always encouraged to go down different rabbit holes and really discover the joy of reading."
– Anastasia Koltovich-Gao (Junior School Parent)
