I will be moving to Atlanta(USA) as a trailing spouse and i wish to find work. I have no special qualifications as i have always been a manual worker. What processes do i need to follow in order to find work?

Hi K

The best ways to look for work are through online job portals. What type of work have you done before? Perhaps you could find something similar. Qualifications may be important, but on occasion, it is experience and a good work history that employers are looking for.

Are you planning on staying in Atlanta permanently? Whether you are allowed to work while in the USA depends on the type of visa you have. Find more information on visas on the Visas for the USA page. If it's only temporary, you might struggle to find a job. Have a read of our section on work permits needed for the USA as well.

Good luck!
Emma

Thanks for your reply Emma. I have looked at the visa requirements and it looks like i would be on a K3 Visa so ill be able to look for work.
We will probably be there for 3 years. I was a driver for 25yrs at home and would love to get back on the road again.
Again thanks for your swift reply. K

Hi K

There are many opportunities for drivers in Atlanta. A quick google search turned up many options. Have a look at websites like Indeed.com and even Craigslist, just be wary of scammers on the latter.

Glad to help,
Emma
