Going to be on contract on Zambia for a few months early next year. Wondering if I need my own car or if it's pretty easy getting around on public transport. Will be staying mainly in Lusaka. Any expats with insights to share about transport and driving in Zambia?

Hi cornwall, public transport in Zambia is not that extensive or exremely reliable. Although you can most likely get by in Lusaka without a car, most expats have their own vehicle - most commonly a 4x4. If you're looking to travel outside of Lusaka having your won vehicle is definitely the best option! For an overview of the different transport options in Zambia have a look at our Transport and Driving in Zambia page.
