Hi Venkat,

While there are a large number of Indians living in Hong Kong, it is difficult to pinpoint specific areas where these people live. However, there are a number of neighbourhoods which are popular with expat famillies which I believe would be great for you. Family-friendly areas of Hong Kong include Sai Kung and Jardine's Lookout. You can read more abour these places on thee Areas and Suburbs in Hong Kong page.

Use the International Schools in Hong Kong page to find a list of schools which are popular amongst expats in the country. It is best to check the school website for accurate info on fee structures, as these change regularly.

It is best to secure a job before moving to Hong Kong. Most expats are head hunted to work in the country, and competition for lucrative employement packages are highly competative. However, IT is a booming industry so you will have lots of opportunities. Try using web portals and approach local recruitment companies for advice.

Shantalie

Hi Venkat

There is a significant Indian community in Hong Kong but the population is quite spread out. That said, Tsim Sha Tsui in Kowloon has been mentioned on our forum before as a neighbourhood with a large Indian population. You can have a look at that thread on the link above.

As for your daughter's educational needs, have a look at our Education and Schools in Hong Kong page, which gives some very useful information on the kinds of schools that are popular with expats, as well as a rough idea of how much these institutions can cost.

Rent in Hong Kong is expensive and will take a fair chunk out of your salary. You can find out more about what to expect from our Cost of Living in Hong Kong and Accommodation in Hong Kong pages.

Since I've already linked so many pages, you may want to have a look at the whole guide from the beginning which starts with Moving to Hong Kong. The guide has been recently updated and will give you a good overview of what to expect and what will be required to move there.

Best of luck,

Xavier
