Hi Balesh, the amount that you will be able to save from this salary all depends on your own particular lifestyle and family circumstances, as well as what your monthyl expenses are going to be. That being said, the salary offered is pretty decent considering that your company will be paying for your accommodation. Worked out on the current exchange rate it comes to about R11,500. But remember you'll get taxed around 10 percent of this. You should also check if your company will be paying your utilities, such as electricity as this is usually charged seperate from rent. With them paying your rent, it will save you around R4000 - R10000, depending on the type of accommodation you will be staying in. Other big expenses will be food and groceries, and if you have kids, you'll also have to pay for this. Public transport is not comprehensive in Cape Town, but is improving. The best way to get around the city is with a car, so you may have to factor in either buying or renting a car. and then there is of course the petrol - which is pretty expensive at the moment. I suggest you take a look at our Cost of Living in South Africa page for more about what you can expect to pay for your basic goods and services. Also have a read through our Expat Guide to Cape Town for all you need to know about living and working in the city.
