I`ve got the following offer: QAR 22 k/month, house rent allowance of QAR 14 k/month, school allowance of QAR 26 k/year, transport allowance, medical insurance and an annual bonus. Is it a good offer?

Hi Manfredo, on the surface this seems like a pretty good offer, especially as you have your housing, transport and medical insurance covered. Depending on the area and whether you are looking for a furnished or unfurnished apartment, with 14,000 QAR/month you should be able to rent a decent apartment or family home in an expat-friendly area. If you're looking to send your kids to an international school, you should keep in mind that fees can be very expensive, so if you've got more than one child at school, this allowance is not going to cover all the tuition costs, but with one child this should cover most of the basics. Check out our Education and Schools in Qatar to learn more about the schooling system in Qatar.

The cost of living in Qatar is not as high as some of its Middle Eastern neighbours, but whether your salary will be enough for you and your family will all depend on your particular circumstances and what you cnsider to be priority monthly expenses. I suggest having a look at our Cost of Living in Qatar page for a break down of what the basics cost in the country in general, and for a more specific breakdown for Doha, have a look at our Cost of Living in Doha page.

Good luck with your move!
