My husband and I are moving to Tokyo with our two children. Any advice for good international schools in Tokyo for expats? We aren't yet sure where we'll be living and want to base this decision around the school we pick. Any advice, opinions etc from parents with kids at international schools would be really helpful. Thanks.

Mobile Phone and Internet service in Melbourne?

Hello, I m wondering what my best option, in other words cheapest, is for getting a mobile phone for local calls and internet, that I can also call back home on. I've looked at pre-paid cell plans from Vonafone, would one of these with a sim card, and an international pre-paid card be my best option? Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer my question. Cheers

Advice on moving to Toronto with kids.

Hi there,

I am looking for some advice from expats that have moved to Canada with children. My husband and I are looking to move to Toronto next year with our two kids aged 8 and 11.

My main concern is about schooling. We are from Germany and I would like the children to continue studying under the German system, to give them at least some continuity. Are there any good German schools in the Toronto area? How expensive are the school fees?

How do you transport pets to and from Cyprus without breaking the bank?

We are thinking of buying a villa in Cyprus (Paphos area) to live in for part of the year. The problem we have come up against is how to transport our two cats with us. We have been quoted exorbitant rates for cargo (£900 each way) or the possibility of taking them as "excess baggage" on KLM or Lufthansa, but the flight times with connections in Amsterdam or Frankfurt are very long for animals. Has anyone come up with any airline that goes direct from UK to Cyprus and doesn't charge a fortune? Or any other way of travelling with animals? Thanks for your suggestions.

Warning about Biddulphs International

Expert Info

Destination: Qatar

We recently used Biddulphs International to move from South Africa to Qatar. For R60 000 we got an unsupevervised international move, that is - no supervisor oversaw the packing or loading. I had to label, number and guess the contents of 174 wrapped items. When the goods arrived dockside, Biddulphs realised they'd underquoted (deliberately or incompetently, it's hard to say). They filled a container and then told us 14 items were left behind. Throughout these problems, Biddulphs were incommunicative and unprofessional, and very slow to respond to emails.

Where should I live in Washington DC ?

Hi guys,

I am busy planning a move to Washington DC in Feb 2013. I have an exciting new job opportunity over there.

I am a 28 year old, young professional and I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on where best to rent an apartment. I'll be working in the downtown area so I would like to be close to work. I enjoy socialising and meeting new people, so it would be nice to be in an area which has a good vibe with lots of places to eat out and grab a drink after work.

Can someone leave South Korea without completing job contract?

For the last two months my daughter has been working as an English teacher in South Korea. The atmosphere at the school is very stressful and it's not what she expected at all. The owner of the school communicates by using scare tactics and everything the teachers do is wrong. To make a long story short, my daughter feels threatened and is very unhappy and she's ready to come back to the US, before her contract ends. She doesn't feel that she can talk with anyone at the school about this, so she'll be leaving without their knowledge.

Hi there,

My boyfriend and I are making the very exciting move from the UK to Cape Town (for a year or so) on 1st Jan 2013.

We haven't got jobs lined up yet but the majority of his family live and work in Cape Town. As soon as we get there, we plan to start networking and speaking to all of our contacts and connections to see what's out there.

We have a place to stay and will have saved up enough money to get us by without jobs for the first month or so but my main worry is that as we don't have work permits, it may be hard to find work.

Hi Expats,

I have just moved to London and I am busy trying to find a job. All my paperwork is in order but I am not having much luck. I even had an interview last week but I didn't get the job in the end.

I have over 7 years experience in sales and marketing and I am a good team player.

Can anyone give me any tips about how to approach the UK job market. Are there any resources you could recommend ? Any tips you have on how to tackle interviews in London would also be much appreciated.

Thanks so much.

We're looking to send our kids to an American curriculum school but I understand TAS is a new school in HCMC. Just wondering if the standards at the school are up to scratch. How does it compare to other American schools in Vietnam. Please help as we would like our daughters to get an Amercan education in Vietnam.

Hi expat parents

Does anyone have experience of the local school system in Vietnam? If you're an expat in it for the long haul, is it worth sending your child to a good Vietnamese school or is it still a good idea to send kids to private international schools with American/British/international curriculums in Hi Chi Minh City? Any insights welcome.
