Hi

Are you importing a car to Vietnam? Taxes on imported cars can be very expensive - up to over 80% of the price of the car - which is why the number of people who own cars in Vietnam is low. See this link for more on shipping a car to Vietnam - http://www.ehow.com/how_5932683_ship-car-vietnam.html

nternational driver's licences are generally not accepted in Vietnam. You will need to convert your licence to a Vietnam licence once you arrive.

You can own a car as long as you are a resident of Vietnam with the papers to prove it. You will then need to register the vehicle and get a vehicle licence, and get it insured in order to do so.

Most people find it easier to hire a car with a driver.

All states require a vehicle inspection that basically checks to make sure that your car is in good working order. This is to keep you and other drivers safe. If an emissions check is also performed, this is to make sure that your car, truck, or SUV, is not putting out too much pollution. Whether we like them or not, state inspections are required annually. Many owners of older vehicles get nervous come inspection time hoping that their car will pass. http://www.rha.uk.net/vehicle-tracking
