Hi! My husband is Swedish and I am duel with American and Swedish citizenship. We live in Malmö. My husband works as a chemist and Im seeking work. After 6 years i got my first job to only be laid off after a few months. Now after looking for work for almost a year we are looking at maybe moving closer to Norway and working there. We have a friend who lives in Sweden and works in Oslo. He was telling us that the job market is very good and that its worth at least looking into. My work background is retail, tourism and cafe work. I speak passable swedish but not fluent. What are the job prospects for someone like me? Could I find work only speaking swedish and english? I understand Norwegian for the most part. My husband on the other hand could find a job in his field and be paid a better salary then what he gets in Sweden. He worked in the states for 5 years and took a huge pay cut to work in Sweden. Long story but we moved to Sweden in 2005. In March we will make a decision on if we stick it out in Sweden and I continue to look for work here and in Denmark or if we move to the UK or Norway? Going back to the US is not something we want to do. We are both 40 and well we need to settle down and I need a job so we can save for the future and it seems all I can find is summer work and temp jobs. I would love just some general advice. We would live in Sweden near the Norway border and commute. Or keep a apt in Sweden somewhere and travel back and fourth. We have no children so a lifestyle like this works for us. Thanks in Advance

I could write a book about why every non-swede should not waste another minute thinking about leaving Sweden for Norway. Half that book would be about how why only Swedes are capable of living in their country, and the other half would be about the struggles of relocating 400km's from Sweden to Norway. The last chapter would describe how wonderful it is to be living in a country other than one's native land and completely at peace with one's self. Don't think twice. Get out of Sweden.
