The move to Doha will certainly be a big change from the life you are used to in the UK. You will have to adapt to a different way of life, but I think if you arrive with an open mind you will really enjoy your time in Qatar.
There are things to do in Doha but much of what you will do will depend on the weather. In ths summer, temperatures are very high and people try to stay indoors as much as possible. Some of the unique activities available in Doha include dune bashing, camel racing and Dhow boat rides. You can also go camping out in the desert which will be something quite memorable.Hotels also organise great beach parties which are a great night out. So you will have plenty do while in Doha.
Please take a look at our Lifestyle in Qatar page for more information on what the country has to offer.
Meeting people shouldn't be two hard either. There will be a lot of expats in a similar situation to yourself and they'll be looking to make friends. Try to join some social clubs or a book club to meet like-minded people.
While there is a lot the country has to offer, you might have to make a few lifestyle changes. Remember that while Qatar is a modern country, it is still very conservative. While, you won't have to wear a hijab or abaya like you would in other Middle Eastern countries, women are expected to dress modestly.

I hope this helps you in your decision and let me know if you have any more questions. Good luck !
