Firstly, I am not aware of there being a document called visit work visa. There is however a business visa, which I assume you are referring to.
This visa is valid for 3 months and you do need a formal sponsor from the company in Saudi Arabia. It is only valid for a single entry into the country. You do need to have obtained this permit prior to travelling to Saudi Arabia.
You will need to check with your local Saudi embassy to see what the latest information on the restrictions of this particular type of visa.
If you plan on working in Saudi Arabia in the long term, you will need a work visa or Iqama and this is granted for the legnth of your contract.
