I'm an American citizen moving with my Icelandic husband to Norway three months before the birth of our child. W're applying for the EEA/EU residence card scheme, which you can apply for within Norway, but I cant find any information on my legal status during this sort of legal limbo period wherein I can reside in Norway with my husband while the application processes, but I dont yet have an identification number of residence card and am not in the Norwegian insurance system. So while every shred of information on the internet about childbirth in Norway says there are no costs - I'm unsure whether or not this means no costs if you arent covered under the national insurance.

Hi,

I do have the same situation,  I have a permanent resident in Norway expecting a child within the next next 2 months.

My wife is in Norway with me waiting for her visa processing.

Can she get necessary care (ultrasonic,  midwife..)?

NB: both myself and my wife are non EU citizens

Please help

Thanks

I'm in the same situation as well - does anyone have an answer to this?

So far what I heard is if my husband has a job in Norway, we don't need to submit health insurance with the application, however it is still unclear if I will be covered for midwife/doctor and hospital for delivering our baby while we're still in the limbo stage of "application being processed".

Please help!
