Shipping and Removals in Zambia

Shipping in Zambia can be unreliable, and it's worth paying extra for an international firm. It is also worth paying the premium for air freight as shipping entails transporting your goods from the nearest port which is Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. The land journey to Zambia is seldom without incident.

To ship your items, the following documents are required: passport, residence visa, work permit, proof of employment, detailed inventory in English with values, dated and signed, and the original bill of lading and two copies with price of freight indicated.

The expat must be present for clearance in order to avoid bonded storage charges. All new items and motor vehicles are subject to import duty. Duty on items is 25 percent of the invoice value plus 17.5 percent VAT on electrical item and 15 percent on PCs. Vehicles are taxed at 25 percent of the new price; used vehicles taxed on value and mileage. Note that only one vehicle may be imported.

Any drugs, perishables, firearms, pornographic material, and left-hand drive vehicles are prohibited.
