Hi I'm looking for any advice or comments from parents who have had experience of international schools in Guangzhou. Are there good international schools in Guangzhou, is it better to send kids to other cities in China or even boarding school at home? What curriculums are offered? Thanks.

Hi Phil

Guangzhou is the third largest city in China and as such has a large expat community - and therefore lots of international schools. The American International School in the city centre for example is one of the best in China.

Schools tend to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum but also the American and British curriculums. Have a look at International Schools in Guangzhou for more details.

I think the schools in Guangzhou are good enough that you won't need to leave your kids in boarding school back home, but it depends on you and your expectations - it is best to explore all your options and preferably visit a number of schools in Guangzhou before making a final decision. Remember that an international school experience in a foreign country is an education in itself!

Hi Phil and Rosinni

Be sure to download the newly released Guangzhou Schools Guide 2012 (it's free!) which contains everything a new expat parent needs to know about the different education options in Guangzhou.

Also, take a look at the articles on the International Schools Guide page for more about the difference between international curriculums such as the IB, American and British curriculums, and other advice for expats with kids in Guangzhou.

There is a Chinese school in Clifford it ends at 5. If you want to go to that school you need to have a simple test. Right next to that school there is an international one. Have a good luck
