Can anyone help me? I got an offer from Bahrain International Hospital 400BD per month + accommodation & transportation & if I will take my family there then they will add 100BD more with the offer! I want to know whether this much salary is enough to live in bahrain alone? & if I will take my wife too then how much earning would be required to live there? is liquor costlier or cheaper as compared to other place?

Hi Arun,

BD400 is not a huge amount to live on in Bahrain. Although your accommodation and transport are paid for, you'll still have to purchase groceries which will cost around BD 100 per week. If you are supporting a family look at around BD 150 per week.

If you have children, you will need to bear in mind the cost of school fees which will be at least BD 7000 per year.

You living expenses will ultimatley also be governed by your lifestyle. Liquor is not cheap in Bahrain, you'll only be able to purchase it in certain places and will find it is taxed heavily.

You can read more about prices in Bahrain our Cost of Living in Bahrain  page.

Good luck,

Thanks a lot dear.. One more offer Ido have from qatar, They offered me 4000QR for 8 hours & minimum of 2 hours overtime is there! So Ican earn about 6000 + approx + free food+ accommodation + transportation + laundry provided by the company. How is this offer? Another thing is my wife is also Bsc Bed, If I will take her over there then what would be the minimum wages for a primary teacher? What about liquor there?

Hi Anon,

With regards to JAABH, it seems a lot of people are having concerns about this being a job scam. You can follow the discussion on this thread. I am not in a position to say for certain if it is a fake job offer, but the fact that so many people have the same concerns could be a sign. The alarm bells should ring if they ask you to part with any money for a visa, flights, etc. No legitimate company would ask a potential employee to foot costs before they start the job.

Hi Arun,

Which curriculum is your wife qualified to teach? Generally, teachers at international schools are well paid - she could start by consulting various International Schools in Bahrain to see if they have any vacancies.

With regards to the job offer in Qatar I would advise you to take a look at the Cost of living in Qatar page. You can then make an informed decision on wether you personally could have a decent lifestyle with that salary.

Both Qatar and Bahrain are Islamic countries so alcohol is generally forbidden for Muslims, at least. You will find there are hotels and restaurants where one can purchase liquor, however it is usually taxed quite heavily.
