Healthcare in the USA
For expats who have negotiated private medical insurance and good coverage, healthcare in the USA is the best in the world. For those without insurance, USA healthcare is mediocre and sometimes non-existent.

Recently the healthcare system in the States received some long-deserved spotlight with the passage of President Obama’s healthcare bill. The legislation included reforms that will:
Major traumas can easily cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and medical treatment is denied to those who can't afford it. Emergency services are provided by law to everyone, but patients can expect to pay hefty fees after. Long term treatments are often denied to those without insurance. Dental and optical operations are often not included in general insurance and are both expensive on their own.
Along with private healthcare in the USA comes some advantages, such as short waiting time for operations and specialists, and competing medical services. Many companies provide insurance for their employees with various degrees of coverage and premiums. There is federal medical aid given to those in poverty and children but most expats in the USA will not qualify for any assistance.

- Help give small-business owners tax credits to help cover the cost of providing health insurance to their employees
- Make sure insurance companies will no longer be able to deny coverage for children because of pre-existing medical conditions.
- Make sure insurance companies also will no longer be allowed to drop people from coverage when they get sick, or to place lifetime or annual limits on the amount of health care people receive.
