I've been living in South Africa for the past few years, but would still like to vote in the fast-approaching 2012 US elections. How and by when do I request an absentee ballot?

Lucky you asked now! Apparently, if you want to cast an absentee ballot for the 2012 US elections you actually have to register NOQ - in January. You can so pretty easily, just follow the basic steps outlined on this site: Votefromabroad.org. Basically you have to fill in some paperwork and then send it to the Elections Board of your state. They then mail you (or email or fax you) a copy of an absentee ballot, which you then complete and return by the said deadline. Good luck!
