I'm flying to Abu Dhabi for 2 weeks (working at the science festival) from Nov 9th to the 24th, can anyone recommend to me and my colleagues flying out where the best ladies nights are? We have been before and know a little of what to expect but advice is always welcomed! For instance, does the emirates hotel still have no limit on what drinks Ladies can receive on ladies nights?

Dubai student visa?

Expert Info

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on
Destination: Dubai

I am a student looking to go study and work in Dubai at the same time. I will be 17 years old when I arrive in college. I heard that a work permit is only issued to people above 18 years of age. My question is, whether I can complete my first year of college on a student visa without working and then get a work permit for the following years? If I can, then what is the procedure? I would really appreciate it if this question is answered.

Dual citizenship in Italy?

Expert Info

Destination: Italy
I am a citizen of the USA, born here. I heard that one can gain dual citizenship in Italy if their roots are not too far removed from Italy. My mother's father came from Sicily as a boy with his parents, and my mother's maternal grandparents also came from Sicily to the US and raised their family here. So, I am second-generation American on my grandfather's side and third-generation on my grandmother's side. Anybody out there who knows about this?? Or at least whom to contact?? Thanks, Rebecca P.

How strict is Oman?

Expert Info

Destination: Oman
Hi there

I'm considering going to teach in the Middle East, and Oman has become a possibility. I like the idea of it because it isn't as popular as Dubai, but I was just wondering how strict they are with Islamic customs there. Will I be able to walk around in Western clothes (within reason) or is it more like Saudi Arabia where I will have to cover my head?

If anyone has any advice, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

Sally

Destination: Romania
Hi everyone

I'm considering applying for an HR position based in Bucharest. I know Romania isn't exactly the most popular destination for expats, but any help or advice would be really appreciated.

While the job would pay quite well, I am more concerned about the kind of lifestyle I'm going to have there - basically, will I be able to have a good quality of life away from work?

Any insights would be great.

Best,

Phil

Do I have to pay taxes in Spain if I don't have residency in the country?

Expert Info

Destination: Spain
I have now obtained a residency status in Spain, just to avoid the hassle of obtaining a tourist visa, however, the maximum time I would spend in Spain, would never exceed 4 months in a year (including interrupted visits). My question, what triggers the need to pay income tax as a resident? Is it the residency status or the duration of my stay?

I had a very important courier pack sent to me by UK Mail. It has been here for 3 weeks now and I have the AWB no. etc. Who do I contact here to find out where it might be? I am finally convinced that the UK is a third world country - The UK Mail people will NOT accept any enquiry from the recipient (me) or the sender for 100 days. Great customer service you Poms for a time sensitive important courier pack. This means my wife and I could be separated for over 3 months. Any advice much appreciated! Thanks David

Are there any schools is Abu Dhabi that offer vocational course for my 16 year old son?

Destination: Abu Dhabi
Hi there,my husband is thinking of perhaps taking a job in Abu Dhabi next year and I'm desperately worried about our son. He will be 16 then and will be just at the stage of starting college. He is not an academic boy and wants to do some sort of vocational course such as plumbing, however, he's not sure what yet. I've googled for information on British international schools with vocational courses and not found anything. Surely there must be something, not all kids are academic. I'd really appreciate any help and advice on offer. Many thanks. April
