Hi all, I have just been offered a role at a firm in AD at AED 35k per month ( approx 73k GBP or 420k AED per annum) plus some other cash benefits on top. I am married and have 1 daughter. Could anyone advise on good and reasonable priced locations to live which are 1) fairly close to same some good schools eg BSAK and 2) which will be easy for me to get to work (which is around Capital Garden Mosque / Khalifa st / 3rd st per Google). I plan to buy a car fairly soon upon arriving.

Help with anxiety and loneliness on expat assignment?

I am the single mom of three children (2,8,10) on an international assignment in London. I am coping with all the adjustments to a new culture, home, etc. but feel doubly overwhelmed being here by myself with my children, no spouse and all my family/friends back home. Is there anyone out there in a similar situation? Any suggestions on overcoming the anxiety and loneliness? Any suggestions on how to meet people and not feel so isolated?

Hi. I am a dual citizen and my US company has made me an offer to move to HKG (Kwun Tong Area) as a localized hire, not under an expat package. I currently live and work in Georgia, USA. I'd love advice from anyone on what I should be considering or negotiating in the process, such as: a) Salary (cost of living, should I be paid in USD or HKD currency, etc) b) Tax implications c) transportation (should I take public transportation or get a car?) d) housing (should I get pre-furnished apartment?) e) Cell Phone and Banking account (which providers should I go with)?

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone can help. I am thinking of moving to Boston to study at Havard for 6 months next year. I have heard it is quite an expensive city - is this true? How much should I budget ? I do not plan to live lavishly but I do enjoy eating out and socialising with friends.

Also, I know most American's drive around but do you think I'll really need to get myself a car for 6 months. How good is the public transport network and is it safe at night ?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

We're going to be moving to Turkey soon and we need to organise our accommodation as a matter of urgency. Where do most expats live in IStanbul - are there any particular areas that most expats congregate in...is there a difference in accommodation standards between the European and Asian sides of the city? We have small kids so would be looking for an area close to good transport and schools....

Hi, we are thinking of moving to Dubai and have a trip planned in three weeks to have a look around. My husband used to live there as a child although it's changed a lot from then. I was wondering what's best to make the most of our trip. I thought we could look around the different areas to live and my husband was going to try and get some appointments with recruitment agencies. Has anyone who has had experience of this any tips please ? Thanks
