Hi,

we are moving to Montreal on a temporary work visa with my son that is about to start 2nd grade. We will live downtown Montreal and are looking for an English school (private or public). He does not know English or French today.

1. Any recommendations on schools?

2. Is there any support for Non-English natives to learn English?

Thanks

Hi Magnus,

I have a similar situation and would very much like to receive answers to similar questions than what you have proposed. Have had difficulties finding this sort of information in the net elsewhere. So will follow this space if you receive comments.

Hi Magnus and Nina,

As public schools in Montreal are usually French, I would recommend opting for a private international school school. Many of these teach in English. For a list of schools, see our International Schools in Montreal page.

Hope this helps.

What languages do they speak and how old are they? It is usually easy for small kids to adapt to any language and according to the area you live in best thing you should go and speak to them and see your options.

Hi Magnus,

I'm in a very similar situation as you were in 4 years ago, and I'd really appreciate if you could share your experience.

Thanks,

Peter
