We're moving to San Jose from the East Coast, NYC to be exact...and just wondering about the lifestyle in San Jose. Obviously, I know it's going to be quite different to New York, but it would be great to hear from anyone who has made a similar move. What's there to do in the city? Is it kid- and family friendly? Are there good shopping malls and restuaruants? Any recommendations for places to go out in San Jose....any insights welcome!

Hey Wallace, San Jose offers expats a great lifestyle and, as you;ve guessed already one that's pretty different to the East Coast. San Jose isn't as existing as other cities in California such as LA or San Francisco, and it's definitely got more a small town feel. It's a very family friendly city and there are plenty of good schools and family activities to be enjoyed. If you like an outdoor lifestyle, there are plenty of parks and mountains to explore and the beach is only about an hours drive away. There are also plenty of shopping options from large malls to designer label boutiques. I suggest you take a look at our page on Lifestyle and Shopping in San Jose to learn more.
