I am in Nigeria on a tourist visa, have been offered employment and accepted. In order for me to apply for an STR do I need to fly all the way back to the US or is there some way to avoid that?

I dont think you need to travel back to the US.

I believe all you need to do is to contact your embassy office in Nigeria and discuss the issue with them.

They will help resolve the issue.
