I've been relocated to Kenya by my company and will be living there for at least the next year. My company has not been that helpful with info re the visa and workd permit process and I was wondering if anyone here had any info on this. Do I need a work permit for Kenya? What visa will I need to apply for? I'm British.

Yes. To be able to work in Kenya, you will need a work permit class H now that you will be in employment. If you work without one, chances are you might get into legal issues with the authorities in kenya. Feel free to get back if you need someone to help you acquire one affordably.

I am moving with my family to Nairobi to start program work for a US based NGO. Can I get a work permit without the NGO having to establish an office in Kenya.

Is there tangible evidence that there is work going on without an office?

@Ashantiz when you say affordably what do you mean? Is there a way to reduce the fees? I would need a class A permit

There are a few people I know that have been assisted with the follow-up of their work permits by a company known as FHL. I would suggest you check them out; my friends told me that their rates were much lower than other immigration agencies.
