A Padron, formally known as a Empadronamiento,  is a town hall registration. It basically is a process that tells Big Brother, I am living in this area. Though, it also helps with a lot of legal processes - like registering your student for state Spanish schools and for making sure you can import your household itemd duty-free from abroad.

The registration process is simple, and you can find more information through the Expat Arrivals "Getting an Empadronamiento" article.

DO PERSONS WHO ARE NON-RESIDENTS ,BUT OWN A PROPERTY ,AND USE IT 5 MONTHS PER YEAR, NEED TO REGISTER ON THE LOCAL PADRON, SO THAT THE LOCAL COUNCIL CAN GET FUNDING FOR THE FACILITIES THAT EVERYONE BENEFITS FROM,ie. roads, police, street lighting etc.
