I've read a lot about this topic, but still wonder: should I buy a healthcare package? How about the coverage and the period for the package? I'm considering Liberty Vietnam: Libertyinsurance.com.vn/index.php/en/liberty-products/personal-lines/healthcare-insurance, but I still want to consider at least 2 more agencies for the most suitable solution. Anyone can help? Many thanks,

You should definitely take out health insurance while in Vietnam. The nation doesn't yet have a universal health care plan, so if you do find yourself in a situation where you need treatment, you'll end up paying an insane amount. What's more, though there are some good hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City, most expats agree that for a complicated procedure they'd prefer to be moved to Bangkok. Which, as you can imagine, is majorly spennies.

Besides Liberty, there are a number of international health insurance providers that cover even emergency evacuation. BUPA is one of the most reputed organisations. Alternatively, Bao Viet is a local subsidiary of interglobal that offers pretty comprehensive packages.

As the health service system in the country is still developing. Thus health risks and healthcare system are “hot”issues for citizen and travelers. Specific health problems still occur such as contaminated food, the quality of manufacturing and trading food products are not guaranteed. Also at the moment due to the lack of government control in the Vietnamese healthcare system the prices and costs of treatment have increasing sharply. Recent studies show that these costs are equivalent to certain countries in Europe such as Germany, Finland and Austria. For that reason purchasing healthcare insurance will assist in reducing costs of treatment as well as ensuring your well being while visiting or staying in Vietnam. You can find the Liberty packages and coverages at: http://www.libertyinsurance.com.vn/images/pdf/brochures/brochure_HealthCare_en.pdf Other considerations include BaoViet or Dai-ichi Cheers :)

Tips to choose Health insurance plan: sort out what you really need: Outpatient, Dental care, Maternity care and oversea treatment. Then sort out your budget. Give it to some insurance agent then they will give you some options. Someone has told you about BUPA and Liberty, they're both good. Liberty, Bluecross, BaoViet are good name locally, while BUPA, Aetna, Interglobal are good internationally, with much higher fee. My customers in Vietnam usually have a suitable option from 400-500 USD or more. You can contact me your needs to get the best quote: hothieuminh@gmail.com. I'm a broker who provide many insurance

Try to contact hothieuminh@gmail.com. While I was researching about health insurance I was also pretty busy but Minh gave me enough information about my concern through just emails only, especially cashless hospitals (I have to move back and forth between Saigon and Da Nang very often, and he gave me particularly clear information and recommendation about hospitals in Danang I am able to visit if I am in trouble). He also revised the plans and options, negotiate with the insurer to fit my budget and balance it with the benefit I get. I would definitely recommend him.
