Hi, I have been offered a legal counselor position in a law firm in Manama. I have a 2.5 yr Indian law firm work experience. I am being offered 750 BD,will it be sufficient to survive in Bahrain? Will I be able to save? I am vegetarian and don't drink or smoke neither do I go clubbing. Please advice.

Hi Pallavi, whether you'll be able to live on this salary or not all depends on your own lifestyle and monthly expenses. However, this salary does not seem very lucrative. The cost of living in Bahrain is relatively high and you can expect to pay around 700 BD for your accommodation alone, depending on the area and size of the apartment - other places are cheaper though. Don't forget your other essentials such as transport and food.

Hi Pallavi,

It may be difficult to survive on BD 750 in Bahrain. You'll certainly struggle to save money at the end of each month.

Accommodation will take up the bulk of your budget. For about BD 700 you should be able to find a one-bedrrom flat or a bachelor flat in an expat complex.

The cost of food in Bahrain is fairly reasonable, and you should make a saving as you are vegetarian. Montly groceries for a single person should cost no more than BD100.

For more information on the cost of living in Bahrain I would recommend the Cost of Living in Bahrain page.

Hi Anon,

Food costs in Bahrain are reasonable, especially if you don't eat out very often.

Imported goods are highly price, but you will certainly save money by buying local.

Good luck

Hi Arun,

This kind of question is always quite difficult as the answer really depends on the lifestyle and standard of living you are used to. Generally, though, the cost of living in Bahrain is quite high - accommodation alone can cost you around 700BD which is already more than the salary you've been offered. I would advise you to try to negotiate a better salary or else continue searching for a different job.
