is it easy to get inexpensive second-hand furniture in Cape Town? Where abouts?

You shouldn't have any trouble getting second hand furniture in Cape Town. Depending on what you are looking for there are lots of shops that seel furniture and you can always try gumtree and OLX too.

Have you found housing in Cape Town already? You might want to consider furnished accommodation instead to save you the hassle of finding and transporting furniture.
