We are a mature academic couple from Europe coming to Melbourne for the first time. We'll arrive next month to a 3-month short-term rental house (eastern suburbs) and we need to get the water, gas, electric & internet connected as quickly (and painlessly, and preferably cheaply) as possible. The rental starts the day we arrive, and it would be nice to have a working house right away! Is this possible? I've seen ads for Connectnow and directconnect, but it's hard to know what to do and how to do it. We just need a basic level of service, nothing super luxurious or complicated. What's the best way to get this done, and are there any things we should particularly be prepared for? We have no rental history in Australia, so we can't produce any proof of prior good behaviour ;-) Thank you for any and all information!
