I am a trailing spouse recently relocated to New Plymouth, New Zealand.

I am an Indian woman aged 49 and am very passionately involved in doing mixed media collage.

How do I meet other INdian expats as well as like minded arty women?

Hi Seema

I'd suggest having a look at the United Indians in New Zealand facebook page. New Zealand has  a bustling art scene, so once you're settled and creating, and if you get actively involved in the artistic community, I'm sure you'll get to meet some great people. A good first step may even be taking a class in a medium you're not familiar with.

In the meantime, have a look at our New Zealand guide to preempt any other challenges you might come across. It starts with Moving to New Zealand

I had the privilege of touring the North Island for a month in 2008, and I really loved the country. I'm sure you'll end up having a great time.

Best of luck,

Xavier

Hi Mehul, I have moved to NP only recently and am still looking for a suitable house. But I can tell you that there is a substantial no. of Indians here. Two shops selling Indian grocery and a few Indian restaurants too. Hope this helps. All the best for your move. Seema

Hi Mehul

Unfortunately I'm not sure how big the Indian community in New Plymouth is but there is a substantial Indian population in New Zealand as a whole.

The best way to start answering your questions is our guide to New Zealand, which starts with Moving to New Zealand. This includes a Cost of Living in New Zealand section.

Good luck!
