Hi there,

I am from Perth working in a MNC as an Engineer. I have a small family of four members (Wife and 2 very young kids). The singaporian branch of my company has got a vacancy for which I wish to apply but before that I want to have some research done.

Basically, if selected, my company offers all most all benefits including housing rents (2000-3000 SGD) per month, school fees, cost of living adjustments, healthcare and many others.

My question is that what minimum salary I should expect from the company so that I can live decent life in Singapore and also save some good amount of money?

Also, Please recommend some good areas for families to live in Singapore where there are good schools near by.

Cheers,

ZN

Hi ZMND. it may be too late to offer advice, but let me just say there is a good Aussie international school near to Bishan neighbourhood. It takes kids from 2 to 18 years old. You could rent a condo unit there from SGD 4,000-4,300 and enjoy the full condo facilities and nearby supermarkets and shopping centre. The efficient aircon buses and mass transit trains trains can bring you to most places on the island. Hope this helps.

If you are getting benefits for house rent/medical /school then your major expenses are covered here. You need another 5k to have decent living in Singapore.

Hi! For example if you want to rent an apartment with 3 bedroom in Novena/ orchard/ river valley you can pay 5000/8000 Singa dollar per month. Fruits, vegetables and meat are expensive, 2 persons expended 500/700 Singa dollar per month in supermarket. have a car in Singapore is expensive, so depend where is your office and school you will choose the best neighbour to live.
